I watched SJP and VR this morning and ever since I’ve been thinking about this book. I just finished Tracy Chevalier’s The Glassmaker so Im very taken with historical fiction as well as the arts. My favorite art these days is contemporary and a bit abstract. I’m obsessed with color and also craft. No real favorites though.

I find it so interesting how your style changes throughout your life, I love Picasso and now and previously thought the classic renaissance was the best. Like Gothe said "A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul". This is what art, music and literature provide - beauty.

Probably Kees van Dongen, specifically The Corn Poppy. It’s on view at MFAH, and I love seeing it every visit.

I am such a fan of historical fiction and loved Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell. I went on to read and really enjoy all of Farrell's books. My all time favorite artist is New Zealand musician Neil Finn of Crowded House Fame. Really enjoyed this interview!

I've become very fond on Seventies flowers, the big bright ones. Not a particular artist but the bright happy flowers. I have been dabbling in different art media and totally enjoy the process. I recently took a pastels workshop and it was the first time I had ever worked with them and have found something else I enjoy doing.

The composer Clara Schumann’s “Piano Trio in G minor”, from the Romantic period. The era explored intense emotions and individual experience as well as the force of nature, mysticism and tragic passions. Just my cup of tea! I love the painting “The Kiss” by Francesco Hayez

Great article and fabulous book cover. Can’t wait to immerse in the book! My favorite paint color is Klein blue - the rich & vivid blue used forthe words “ I Am You” . Created & actually patented by Yves Klein in 1961- an iconic ultra marine blue - a pure space of color you want to touch- made legendary by artists from Klein, Kahlo ,from Majorelle to Yves St Laurent- still inspiring artists writers today - i love that great art & great books nourish the soul!
